This year, the tapas menu caught our eye, and did not disappoint, awakening the senses and bringing Catalan flavours to summer. From watermelon with fresh Manchego cheese and spicy Espelette pepper to the aubergine with parsley and nori seaweed or the escabèche razor clams, this is a food-lover’s paradise. The matured mackerel with apricot pickles and a refreshing dollop of paprika yoghurt is both original and deep-flavoured, as is the duck with sweet azuki beans and fragrant figs. The modern dining room is as pleasant as ever with its stylish monochrome tones, and the tranquillity of the location in the hills above the Iron City makes it an ideal retreat, lulling you into a Mediterranean fantasy. A pilgrimage that deserves to be made more often for the consistency and creativity of chef Fernando Andreu's cuisine!
